The standard tolerance for measurement is +/- 10%. Resistance varies with ambient temperature, so 1% isn't surprising. I have measured the same pickup at room temperature and at 20 below and the spread is as much as 3K.

I had no idea that is the case!!! Does this affect the tone whilst playing too????

Was the first solo on the stock DD?- I was hoping to hear the same solo with the Custom Shop DD.

Not really since we measure it in dcr whereas a pickup produces an ac signal wirh much more complicated intricacies going on in 'calculating resistance'. Properky called impedance. So nah. Don't worry and enjoy your new pickup.

I asked for this pickup, its my concoction, I asked MJ for a DD with more growly mids like the PA TB2b and with faster tracking clearer mids. She said no problem.

If you want to order it, you have to email the custom shop and order it by its pickup number, NOT by the name I gave it, then she'll pull up its specs and build it for you. Look on the photo of the pickup box, and see "pickup #: 188575".

While the DC resistance doesn't define output level or EQ, that isn't to say a pickup with a different DC resistance will sound the same as another. A true DD wind wouldn't be a Custom Shop pickup. (Double-screw DD would be a shop floor custom.) I would expect MJ to have altered the wind to achieve your stated goals. "Clearer mids" could mean pushing the resonant peak up a bit, which dropping the turns would achieve. That would give you the brighter/clearer tone heard here, and explain the lower DC resistance.

My bad, I confused which was rated which way. Nothing I hypothesized makes sense anymore; quite the opposite.

My only not-great stab at it now is that you're hitting distortion a little harder, causing a little more breakup, which is adding a little more high end. That's a very weak guess.

Of course you can mate!!! Just remember to ask MJ for the pickup by its number and not the name I made for it, cause thats how she catalogs the specs, and then she can build one for you. I'll be getting another for my other flying V soon.
