my new tele project

picking up a MIM standard tele and decided to make a project out of it to match a MIM jazz bass I finished a year ago

it's midnight wine finish and has maple neck/fingerboard.

I'm thinking Joe Barden vintage bridge w/ compensated brass saddles, set of Fralin Blues Specials (1/2 and 1/2 magnets, hybrid stagger), bone nut, cream pearloid pickguard, and schaller strap locks

at some point I'll likely order a warmoth vintage satin nitro tinted birdseye maple neck (59 roundback, as I tend to like chunky necks) with abalone face dots and stainless 6105 frets.

the jazz bass is midnight wine also, has a warmoth vintage tinted birdseye neck, dimarzio ultra jazz p'ups, bone nut, chrome knobs (concentric PTB tone circuit), schaller strap locks, cream pearloid pickguard.

Sounds awesome, man. Best of luck with it.

Be sure to show us some pics when you're done. ;)

Re: my new tele project

Yes, we do require pics! I'll be especially interested in how those Fralins sound. I have Vintage Hots and a SP42 in my Strat.

Re: my new tele project

someone bought the wine red tele I wanted (grrrr I hate people that sell stuff they promise you) so now it won't match my jazz bass exactly but I managed to score a 3-tone sunburst for the same price as the wine red one.

And I will have pics as soon as it's done it may take a couple weeks depending on when the Fralins arrive. I talked to Lindy and I'm going to go with a stock Blues Special set and later on I may add a Vintage Hot strat p'up to the middle position (I'm considering doing the 5 way switch and a push-pull blender).

Re: my new tele project

update: Joe Barden bridge and cream pearloid pickguard are in I also have the DR Pure Blues 11-50 gauge strings.

I have a nice surprise though with the fralins. I have routed to a swimming pool route.

So I have a 2% overwound neck, vintage hot strat p'up for the middle position with cream cover, and a blues special 5% overwound bridge RW/RP.

Instead of a tone knob/pot I am putting in a blender pot to control how much of the middle pickup comes through so I can get all three traditional tele voicings.
