My pearlygates(B) in the Neck of my Carvin w/c5 in Bridge...

When I play my pearlygates, I prefer the tone be turned ALL THE WAY DOWN!! It gives it a fluty tone I really like...ANYONE ELSE DO THIS??

ALSO--I dont like the way my guitar sounds w/both pickups ON at the same time--with me it's either one or the other...ANYONE ELSE??

Re: my PEARLYGATESb in NECK

I have also tended to dislike the sound of two pickups together in parallel, but the sound is growing on me. To me, a neck pickup or a bridge pickup has a lot more character and liveliness than both together. I've found this to be true generally regardless of the guitar, though I never carefully examined the issue so that might not always be true.

Re: my PEARLYGATESb in NECK

When I play w/both pickups it TAKES AWAY from the CLARITY of my C5...I leave the TONE ALL the way up when using BOTH pickups.

When I play my PearlyGates(neckposition) by itself, I leave the Tone all the way Down, it's like a totally diff. pickup(for Harmony leads)...for otherstuff I leave the Tone alltheway Up.

I got a CARVIN sc-90(pearl white, goldhardware, ebonyboard, abalone blockinlays, sperzels, tuneomatic bridge, & WHITE SEYMOUR D's!!)

Hey BENJY-I see you also use a Pearlygate(bridgeposition) in your Neck, I also did that to my Carvin(see above). I really like it!

Re: my PEARLYGATESb in NECK

I have a Pearly Gates bridge in the neck of my Agile DC2500. It is paired with now a JB ceramic. I don't care for the middle position on Gibsonesque guitars. One or the other, otherwise it's too generic sounding and kind of flabby. I love the Pearly Gates bridge in the neck spot too a little more grit to keep up with the JB ceramic, than if it were a regualr PGn.

Re: my PEARLYGATESb in NECK

I've got 2 PG bridge pickups in my Strat. I raised the bobbin screws a bit on the neck pickup higher than the ones on the bridge pickup, so i'ts a tiny bit brighter. It's a 3 pickup guitar, so the bridge & neck pickups are never on at the same time.

My Guild Starfire has a great tone with both stock pickups on. Again the bridge pickup is no hotter than the neck one, I think that helps. I think the best balance is achieved when the neck pickup is a tad louder than the bridge pickup.

I may be out of sync with you guys, I'm probably don't use as much gain as you, having both pickups on doesn't work well in a high gain situation, no matter what. Then its usually brigde or neck, with no in between.
