My SGs

Hello Ladies and Gents I'm new on this site. This is my second post. I figure I'd break the ice by posting a photo of three of my guitars.

They’re beautiful, what are they? What are the details?

Re: My SGs

Almost looks like a Hagstrom
Kay, isn't it?

I have an oddball Hagstrom (F2000P) that looks kinda like the offspring of an SG with a Strat- it has P90s and a trem with a slightly offset body. Hangs a little more naturally on me than an SG, though it still has the strap button behind the neck. Very slim fast neck, with a resin fretboard. I named it Foxbat.

I've never really been able to bond with SG types; it's the neck balance thing, also I think maybe I just don't have the right body shape to wear one comfortably. Have owned a few of 'em over the years. Only have one at present, an antique white SG Custom. Don't play it much but I can't quite seem to let it go. I'd wanted one of those for ages, ever '76 when I was briefly in a band with a guy who played one.

Re: My SGs

That one's NOT an SG. It's a plywood nightmare.

I know it's not an SG. But I used to play super-cheap 1960s and '70s guitars when I was first getting started (Teiscos, Kents and such) and that is why it makes me smile. This one looks to be branded as a Kay.

Re: My SGs

I wonder at what point a 335 gets dubbed a plywood nightmare.

I worked on a bunch of them back in the 80's. Epiphone made some bolt-on necked copies that were just horrible.

Re: My SGs

Nice collection of SG guitars...I have a black Gibson SG Special myself. I really like some of the Epiphone SG's like the fadeds, etc. Solid build quality for sure.
