My strat sounds hollow and weak. Problem?

Lately, my strat ben sounding kind of Tin and hollow. There also seams to be a loss of sustain. Notes wont hold for very long at all. The guitar has a rw fingerboard and stock pups. I'm not sure what the body wood is, but its probably a few peices glued together. Is the problem the pups, body wood, neck, or is it just not that great of a guitar.

I'm also using a POD xt through a SS peavey studio pro 112. Could this be the problem?

im usin 10s and the pups are set at the factory recomendation.

I'm not familiar with the Pod, but if it takes a battery, change the battery. Also, just because you put on a new set of strings doesn't guarantee that they're Fresh. You could have gotten old strings. Buy another set somewhere else, and try them. .........

Pods pluged into the wall with AC adapter. I guess the strigs could be dead. I use d'addarios (spelling?) Some of the threads a while back claimed them to sound bad. Should I try something else?

are you saying that it doesn't sound as good as it used to?

also, I'm not familiar with that Peavey amp. maybe try playing without the POD and see how it sounds, and if you know someone with a small tube amp (or even a big one for that matter), try playing through that

I can tell you that a strat doesn't sound as good through a friend's SS Fender as it does through my Blues Junior

I also just jamed with this guy. We were playin real loud, but my guitar didn't seam to sound weak. I was actually sounding pretty good through his fender blues deluxe. I guess it could be the amp. Well, Im gettind a Bandmaster nextweek, so I guess I'll see how it sounds.

seriously, whenever you try to troubleshoot, start with the simple things - which are often less expensive, and less trouble - then move to other things down the line

FWIW, I use D'Addarios and Ernie Balls, depending on the guitar. I find the D'Addarios a little warmer, and the EB's little brighter. Just a little thing to keep in mind.
