My take on Song for George

Yeah, I had to learn this once I first heard it, and when I got to play it so it was more or less recognizable, I figured, why not try out the new sound card? (Lexicon Lambda, which I by the way am very content with! :))
For those not familiar with the song, this is a take on Eric Johnson's Song for George. Eric plays this song a lot faster than me, yet I still seem to slip through a lot of mistakes and sloppy playing in my recording.
As for the recording itself, I have absolutely no idea how to improve the sound, so input for that too is warmly welcomed. :)

Here it is.

Re: My take on Song for George

nicely done!

very sweet playing

i do not want to go to heavy on the recording technique cus it might be my crummy PC speakers

thanks for sharing it

Re: My take on Song for George

Thanks a lot !! :)

As for the sound.. I am afraid it's not only your crummy speakers. There is something going on that isn't very pleasing, but I don't know how to sort that out.. Oh well.. I will learn, eventually..

Re: My take on Song for George

just seems a little too prominent in the bass to me ...

and you seem to be getting the higher strings a bit muted/distant ... dunno if you went DI or mic'd ... might wanna experiment with mic position if you mic'd

all part of the fun

but dont worry, it didnt take away from appreciating the performance ... youi play quite well .. and its a very tricky tune too ..

cheers

Re: My take on Song for George

I used the preamp of my Takamine, so the guitar went straight into the Lambda interface. I should perhaps remember for the next time to turn down the bass of the preamp a tad bit..

Thanks Larry!
