Did this today - we had a halfday because of state testing, and I felt inspired. :laugh2:

Definately a more mellow feel than a lot of my other stuff, but I can't believe how freaking good this 5150 is sounding. I should have never sold my original one.

Man.... WOW.... I can't believe how amazing the tone is there. You definitely have a killer sound going with the TS9 and 5150. And that's just through your Avatar 2x12 too!

You better keep those clips coming. :headbang:

*EDIT* misunderstanding on MSN, I thought you said it was both Recto and 5150 but nope, just 5150.

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Hey nice tone!

i'm having the hardest time getting my 5150 to sound good.

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

WFD, I need to raise the guitars a bit Methinks, but otherwise, it's unmastered, so it will be lower in output compared to a pro recording. But yeah, just 5150, no Recto.

What settings have you been using? That was with gain on 4, bass at 6, mids at 4, treble at 6, volume at 2, resonance at 5, presence on 6, with a tubescreamer infront.

+1 sorta...

Its kind of a love hate thing for me. Sometimes its super bright or its loose and muffled. Right now Im mixing it with some delay and its giving me great tone. DSS, it sounds great. Your using a tubescreamer arent you? I can never get my TS9 to not sound ice picky and thin.

Try pointing the drive and level knobs to the corresponding corners of the pedal, and the tone knob in line with the drive knob. Run that into the amp with the gain on 4 or so, and tweak from there.

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

awesome as usual - very tasteful and yes I am jealous :)

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

i´ll design my own, based on yours.
Q:P
ah.. i´m pretty near the tone on the new misery index cd, with my SD-2
did you checked it!?

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

definately liking the 5150 tone more than the recto clips. Just got that extra little "UMPH" to it.

mate how did you do your drums?
I like the guitar sound, great stuff!!!

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Great clip... I dig this much more than the recto clips....

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Def sounds better than the Recto, or a "regular" 5150...TS9 tightens it up and gets rid of some of the excessive bottom end.

Bro, you can play....you KNOW I'm not into this type of stuff, but I always enjoy your clips...You make Doom metal not so Doomy :bigthumb: :D:laugh2:

2 more things..

love the doubletracking on the lead harmonies :bigthumb:

You got one too many strings on that guit of yours ;)

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Thanks guys! I think I'll track bass for it after school today.

WFD - Not a big fan of MI, can't say I've checked out the new album.

Budalash - Drums were Drumkit From Hell Superior, kick replaced 90% with an Andy Sneap kick, snare replaced 50/50 with a DM4 Picollo.

Jeff - Thanks! 6 strings was just never enough for me ;).

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

Damn, dude. That's killer. I'm not so much in to this type of metal either but when I do listen to it, I like it like this, with some melody in it.

Gotta love the 5150. Is this one a block logo? It's not the 5150II is it?

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

...dude, whish you where in spain... i am finding for someone like you to make a f..... serious metal/whatever band, but i can´t find people with your technique, inspiration...

awesome as always, i´ve never replied your clips, but i´ve been impressed with every one, this one is specially good, about the music, and impressive as always about the tone...

it seems that the 5150 is your amp dude, altough some people can´t stand you come back to peavey and disliked your rectifier

Re: My Turn For 5150 Clips - Doomish Metal

btw are you using a condenser mic along with the shure?

a friend of mine has told me to use a condenser back on the room to record the ambience sound... is this usefull, what do you think? thanks
