Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

First, wipe the memory and reset the logic by holding down the channel buttons, and then turning it on while holding them down.

Most likely, it's the 12AX7 that died. It's hard to pull it out of the circuit, so it's best to use a plastic handled screwdriver. From the side, wedge the flathead in between the tube and socket, prying it free. A new tube might clear it up.

If not, I hope you kept the receipt and bought it new. Vox/Korg's warrantee is 3 or 5 years I think.

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

A better (and safer) way to pull the tube is to use one of those kitchen jar grip thingies...lol. Wrap it around the tube, get a grip on it and pull. I do that with my AD50. The tube sticks out just enough to allow a sufficient grip.

I agree with the reset. The AD50 has a CPU fan in it (at least since the 2006 models) so it shouldn't be overheating. Mine hasn't after 1 1/2 years of heavy use, stock tube as well.

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

Well i have it since 3 years...
The guarantee was for 2 years...:(
I change the tube 2 times allready..Yes it has a fan in it..
The "mush" problem increases with the loudness..The harder i push ,the worse it gets..
Last rehersal ,it began to phase..The volume was like moving 10db down and back...
I need a wireing diagram...If i find one ,i may even build a fx loop in it!Thanx alot!:D

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

The only place that'll have those schematics are authorized repair centers for Vox. Do the reset and see what happens after that.

Do you run it with the wattage selector maxed and the master volume past half way or something?

I've been running mine in a band situation with the wattage selector at full and the master volume about 10 o'clock. The model volumes are at about 2 o'clock other than the Twin model - I dime the volume on that one and set the gain to noon.

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

There's very little in that amp that's serviceable by an amp tech, because it's digital boards.

Anytime you have a problem with a modeling amp, it's best to reboot it and erase all the memory. Sometimes something goes crazy with the noise gate, or a delay oscillated out of control, and scrambled something. Resetting it will clear that up.

However, it's possible that the amp is just screwed up. In that case, get a Vox warrantee station to repair it. They usually just swap a board out.

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

Thanx alot Bros!I appreciate it...I will do the Hard-reset!
BTW ,yeah i drive it on max wattage and control the Level with the master out!mostly at noon or 13 O'clock!

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

Also, see if wiggling the input or speaker jack makes the volume jump. It could be a cold solder joint on a jack.

Re: My Valvetronix AD 50 died..Schematics needed.

So it,s a "Windows " amp ,is it?

My digital setop box does that;gets stuck in some weird state won,t turn off.Won,t even turn on some days. "hit the reset button"then it works.

You find them on all sorts of things these days.
I,ve found them on VCR,s and you,ll most likely find one on your modem these days!

Where else have people found "RESET" buttons??
