Morning Everyone,
Picked up a pretty unique shaping tool in the rasp family. My wife said it looks more like a zester ;-)
Anyhow, I'm definitely taking the carve marks out of the body. It just doesn't look "right." Also, picked up an Ash log in good condition with no splits. I'm going to try and sqeeze two bodies out of this one. Getting the two workable pieces out of this one will be a challenge since I don't have a lumber mill in my back yard or suitable chain saw, but will figure it out.
Also below are some additional pics from starting out to where I'm at (in order from bottom to top.) As soon as the camera is up and running, I'll have some more. The biggest problem I'v had carving this has been wood splits in certain parts. But the unseasoned log for the next one should help with that.
Hope everyone is well in the North East!!
