Greetings everyones!
Just thought that I'd share my newest amp, third one I've built for myself and fifth total I've built so far. This time I went with a 100w version of one of Ceriatone's Dumble Overdrive based amplifier, more specifically the one designed to run on EL34 with an internal tonestack. I decided to give it a twist and replaced the internal tonestack with an external one, to achieve it I had to get a blank chassis and route everything myself (with decent results, beside the PT and IC square holes, my dremmels skills need improvement lol). I've also brought the to OD Trim to the front and added a Master Volume and Depth (resonance) control.
Only used it twice with my band so far so I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but damn is this amp loud and angry, lots of gain on tap and very nice clean channel. I play in a Stoner/Doom Metal project so it covers pretty much everything I need, it doesn't have a modern overdrive, falls into the JCM800 amount of gain with a darker sound and different gain structure. The Master Volume comes from a kit that London Power sells, it basically sits inside the Phase Inverter so its not a PPIMV but it work just as fine, you can crank it all the way from 0 to 100% with little to no difference in the tone (poweramp always sounds as if the master volume was at 100% but it has more control than a master volume that is right after the tonestack).
Dunno what else I can say so far, I'll try to record some clips during my next time off but feel free to ask any question regarding the amp.
Now, pictures!
Preamp tubes:
V1: Genalex Gold Lion ECC83S
V2: Preferred Series 7025
V3: Tung-Sol ECC803S
Poweramp tubes:
V4-V7: Electro Harmonix 6CA7
Cheers folks!
