NAD! Electric Amp MV-120 "Green"

Well, got it a couple weeks ago, but bought from a friend his 2008 Electric Amp Innovations Master Volume Unit 120 Watt amp. Mean sounding is all I can say! Love it - if you are familiar with how a Matamp GTO120 sounds, if your eyes closed, hard to tell. Awesome amp. Tone is huge, fuzzed out, and loud. Not for everybody but for me - perfect!

While it shines at massive fuzzed out goodness - and yes I play in stoner rock/doom bands, it is versatile enough to get a lot of different tones if you take the time to dial it in right.

Sorry for the blurry pic, wish I would have taken another one.

Awesome! I'm sure that thing rocks so hard that ( insert inappropriate semi-homoherotic remark).

Quite jealous here... I wish these were at least common enough to be tried in my remote neck of the woods...

Re: NAD! Electric Amp MV-120 "Green"

awesomeness!!! I saw your band live when yall came to Austin and played at the spiderhouse and their PA got destroyed along the way of the doom bands.

I was just listening to your band on reverbnation yesterday wishing I was bassist in your band... your bassist has the same bass as me - jetglo rick 4003...I need to start up a band that holds a candle to the doom yall bring.

I play a little more sludgy than doomy so I dig my Orange thunderverb 50, but if I played more sludged out doom that amp would be first pick, along with an awesome attenuator ;)

you guys have a lot of shows lined up, very cool. for these shows will yall be using the matamp for one guitarist and the electric amp for the other guitarist now?

Ooh, that's some beast amp you have there. A monolithic praise of slurred squeals to the black goat, hoss. Make profanity in her name.

That is all kinds of awesome.

I also love that its got an actual "fuzz" knob on the amp itself.

Sofa. King. Awesome.

Now the NAD thread I was planning for tomorrow will seem like a cheap imitation....

That SXSW Spiderhouse show - not our finest hour and was a drag man (well I had a ball and we played well but when the PA fully blows it kind of sucks lol), our singer was so pissed he jumped in his car and went back to Dallas right after we played! He missed some great bands that night though - Unmothered, Venomous Maximus, and Las Cruces all tore it up! We play loud like that every show.

We are on hiatus now, our drummer has been very ill and is not in playing condition and won't be for a few months. The rest of us are still writing though, you should hear what is about to come out by the summer hopefully, it is so heavy. We've gone back to our doom roots a bit (we are more of a southern stoner rock band these days) and written a couple of songs that I hope would make Iommi and Wino proud! The singers wife walked into the jam room when the 4 of us were up there writing (and I grabbed one of the owners of the jam room who is actually our former drummer from the early days to help us with some timing for the song) and she said that is the song that Black Sabbath should have written for the new album, it was like a really awesome version of God is Dead? kind of, but way better - her words, not mine. I think it's the vocal melody we put on this - more like a Dio melody and delivery.

When we hit it again, I will be using the Electric and the other guitarist will be using either his Matamp GTO120 Black or his 1973 Sunn Model T, both amazing amps of course. Him and I have gotten together to write a couple of times with both amps and it is THICK man. This might sound kind of weird to say but I will and it's not mean to come off as cork sniffery - our goal is to have the best tone for our kind of music around. We've been told our tone is ridiculously good many times (even when I play my Peavey Butchers with a Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh as my dirt or with my Orange Rockerverb 100 MK1) but wait until we get out there with these beasts. It really is ridiculously amazing sounding. I'm really proud of the way the band sounds these days. I'll be playing the Electric for FUZZ and have not decided what to play for my clean stuff yet, I play all the cleans in both of my bands and don't do the volume roll back very well so I need an alternative. And frankly, the Electric doesn't clean up well with roll back anyway!

I have a side project that has a gig lined up (first one) in a few weeks and will be using it. Can't wait! Going to melt that little venue! It's a secret gig so if anybody in Dallas is reading this and wants details, PM me. Will be all instrumental because we haven't found a singer yet and the project features me on guitar, the bass player from Black on High/Pothead Goat, and the original drummer and one of the founders of Mothership (they are on the Ripple label - he is the Dad of the bassist and guitarist for Mothership and played with them for more than a year when they first started. They are really starting to blow up, I'm so proud of those guys - they are good friends. First European tour is scheduled for this year so they are doing it right). Some of you might have seen Mothership recently, they toured with Kadavar, Scorpion Child, and Gypsyhawk. In fact I let them borrow my Orange as a backup for the tour, that Orange in my pics was one of the last amps standing! I think all of the bands used it the last couple of weeks.

Re: NAD! Electric Amp MV-120 "Green"

cool man that band http://www.reverbnation.com/blackonhigh sounds great, very sludgy, and mothership is awesome http://www.mothershiphaslanded.com/ I bet that will be a VERY cool project. nice of you to loan out your orange. When I am cramming thousands of dollars of gear in my 15 year old corrolla it makes me wonder, but it is like a motorcycle rally you know :) . I like all those bands they toured with, that is crazy when stuff blows up for people you know; thanks for the heads up on those bands, I have spotify so I am enjoying all those awesome tunes now. I think your band should blow up!!! your singer sounds great and has a lot of presence, and I really dug yalls tone and riffage live. hope the hiatus is over soon, I would love to hear that album. I think the Sabbath 13 album was killer and all. cheers :beerchug:

Re: NAD! Electric Amp MV-120 "Green"

I think the blurry pic is perfect for that amp. :)
120W ... Wow, that's more wattage than all of my amps combined!!
Enjoy!

Re: NAD! Electric Amp MV-120 "Green"

I think it's cool that some of the letters in the logo are orange, so the amp actually looks sort of like it belongs on the Orange cab. 'Cuz let's face it... the only thing you see less than Electric Amps is Electric cabs.

You mean it's more than 7 watts?!

On another note, I bought a las cruces cd a long time ago (SOL) and they're awesome. Cool to hear they are still around.

NOW we're talking! LOVELY!

My Hovercraft Andromeda's circuit is influenced a lot from that amp/GTO/GTOL.
