NAD - Marshall Finally!

I tried it out yesterday. I didn't sleep much last night. Today I pulled the trigger.

Marshall DSL40C - 40 or 20 watts of EL34 112 crunchness. The clean sound is pure, sweet and bubbly. The hi gain settings are all classic Marshall.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

Congrats! I want one of these really bad. I had a DSL50 head and a 1x12 cab and I MISS that GREEN CHANNEL crunch! Dime that ****!

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

Congrats, welcome to the dark side and all that. For a certain sound, these amps can't be beat.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

Nice score. Musikshmidt has an impressive demo of the 40w combo on yootoob. If the 15w head had a loop, I would be all over a new DSL.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

I know that on the original DSLs people complained that the EQ couldn't be set for a good sound on both channels. How does this work out on your new model ?

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

That thing with a Deluxe Reverb and a Fulltone True-Path amp switcher to keep it silent would be the ultimate Marshall/Fender club rig.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

I can pretty much guarantee it'll sound better than the DSL401. The DSL401 had EL84's, and IMO, was too compressed and flubby for real Marshall tone- I ended up trading it in towards a JCM800 4211 with EL34's to get what I wanted.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

I played all of the new DSL run in my latest amp search. I found them to be very pleasant to the ears, and they had a great feel to them.
Marshall hit a bit of a homerun with these.

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

I was thinking about this, but I gotta be able to get a good sound at a low volume. The 15 watter is out of the question because of the 6v6's. So it's a toss-up between this and the SL5. Can you play this one at bedroom volume and still get a good tone?

Re: NAD - Marshall Finally!

I had a DSL50 head (the older UK model, basically same amp).

The bedroom tone on it's own was quite thin, (1.5 or 2 on the volume, 2.5 was too loud for my apartment) at least compared to the amp on 3 or 4. It was like a totally different amp on 4 but then it was GLORIOUS.
