NAD: Mystery 60’s amp (paid $20)

I paid $20 for this. I want to get it working (it has no power cord) and fully converted to be a guitar head. Anyone here got any way I can do that?

Looks like it might already be there, minus the obvious.

Take it to your best local amp repair person and see what they say.

I wonder if it is a tweed Tremolux based amp. The tube compliment appears similar (though the Tremolux has a single tone knob).

Looks fun! I'm jealous.

Man
I'm gonna start gluing scrap parts together and sell it to Nathan cheap as nonworking gear

I'm gonna make a fortune

Nathan
It has that 70s rotolabel embossed labels on the knobs
It doesn't have a brand logo anywhere

It doesn't work

Its junk

I was broke and optimistic when I was your age too

Spent my childhood taking junk apart and making it into something else

Good luck

At least you cant break it

Be careful. Dont start no fires

That may be why the previous owner removed the cord

I will probably get it looked over by a tech.

Edit: Replaced cord, it works! Just a bad rectifier tube I need to replace and voila! I'll have a tube amp probably worth thousands that I got for next to nothing.

glad its working! hows it sound? not sure its worth thousands though ;) take a good gut shot if ya can. im curious what it is under the hood

Glad you got it working, but not sure about the "thousands", maybe worth "tens" more than what you paid if it is working. Just be careful pokin' around in there, lots of volts lurking around in tube amps, and if you poke them wrong they poke back.

It was a surprisingly easy fix. I just have to get a new 5U4GB or 5AS4 rectifier tube, and get a tech to get my haphazard speaker jack thing fixed up properly.

Cool find. I was going to guess DIY, but the punched chassis suggests otherwise. Heathkit maybe?

Somewhere around here, I have a vintage Carvin amp with rotolabel embossed labels. Although, they're only on the rear panel. ;)

OEM rotolabel?
Really

Yup. But not my Carvin. Just checked. It's my buddy's old Mesa Boogie.
