Christmas came early! Sort of a late post since I've had most of this stuff for a couple days now. I decided to step away from my military setup (Macbook Pro/Amplitude Custom Shop/M-Track Interface) to a more "classic" one. I sold a lot of my gear when I enlisted in the Army, so I'm getting pieces back together now. First up my Limited Edition Fender DDRI w/ Blonde Tolex & Wheat Grille.

She sounds pretty good out of the box, but I knew from the start that the speaker needed to be changed. So I got this: Scumback M75 65W 8 Ohm speaker. Jim suggested this one based off the sheet you fill out (about your setup) through the site. Still tho, it was a battle between the J75 (G12H30) and the M75 (G12M). In the end I went with the M75. The mids sounded a lot richer and the warmth sealed the deal for me. Picked her up this morning at the Scumback warehouse.

My new pedal(s): Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe. Sweet lil dirt box and it's more versitale than I thought it'd be. I had ordered a Rivera Metal Shamen, but it was back ordered. I ended up switching it for a Bogner Uberschall pedal which should be here Christmas Eve. My pedalboard is a work in progress sadly. I'll post pics as it comes along. I'm currently on the hunt for a vintage ibanez compressor and Lovepedal Gold Kalamazoo for my next additions.

I haven't tested out the M75 in the DR other than a couple chord progressions to make sure I installed it correctly. My girlfriend is staying the weekend so I won't be able to test out the speaker until tomorrow evening or even Monday. Oh well.. Cheers. :friday:

Sweet looking amp and you should like that new speaker, even before it's broken in...

I have 12 Wampler pedals and love them all, you will enjoy the Deluxe Pinnacle. Brian does nice work!

Sure you can test it. The GF just needs to deal with it. :D

Awesome! Should be a fun setup. :) You're kind of itching for a Tube Screamer type pedal there too!

If you want a compressor, get the Xotic SP.

Thanks! It's pretty insane what the lil red box can do. I'm happy *with my purchase. I can't wait to crank up the DRRI and see what the M75 can do. Jim had it in a FBI box so its broken in considerably. :D

Haha, she was kind enough to buy it as my present for Christmas. Then she gave me time to install it. I'll give her some slack.

Don't tempt me :D

I'm going to comb the forum for compressor threads. Is the Xotic SP a "vintage" sounding comp?

The SP is a stomp style compressor, the benefits are that it has a blend knob (like a barber) and attack/release has a little control through the DIP switches in the back. However it only has three preset levels of compression, but they are three useful settings. It's definitely a popular choice for that style comp.

Is that a British style speaker? How did you end up choosing it?

How transparent is the SP? Sounds very interesting. I'll look into more when I can zone out on gear ha.

40% What my ears found to be the "best tone" for me
25% Input from this forum :friday:
25% Input from Scumback
10% Blind Faith

The M75 is indeed a British style speaker. I searched for common DRRI upgrades and a lot of threads (including here) pointed at Greenbacks. Specifically the G12H30. Along with videos and my ears I narrowed it down some. The styles of music I like to play favor British style speakers for the most part. The final input from Jim at Scumback sealed the deal. These speakers hold good resale value so if I don't like it in the future, I won't take a big hit from selling it.

Cool, can't wait for your in depth impressions once you can fire it up for a while.
