NAD... surreal LC100

Picked up a used Surreal LC100 (with custom 20 watt mode) a few days ago. So far I really like it. Seems to have a Friedman-esque gain thing happening. That whole smooth refined Cameron/Jose-modded plexi vibe. Haven't even explored a fraction of the switch settings yet. Gotta get busy tweaking this weekend to explore all the possibilities.

most people have never heard power amp distortion :D but few people who buy 100w amps are running the amp near its limits. looks like a nice amp though. have you messed with the switches yet?

Power amp distortion isn't good for modern metal. Too loose in the low end.

I have. Lots of variations in tone, gain, etc to be had there.

I was just joking about how the knobs were set. The rest of you are taking me way too seriously.

Re: NAD... surreal LC100

Been playing at low gain setting a lot and this amp has as great of plexi tones as any of the amazing amps I've owned. Playing my '81 Ibanez Artist into it last night... I was flat-out nailing iconic early 80s tones from ACDC's Back In Black and Def Leppard's High and Dry albums. Also played through all of The Darkness' catalog and was nailing that as well. Jerry built a hell of an amp here. It doesn't take a back seat to any of my Friedmans, Bogners, Marshalls, Ceriatones, etc.
