NAD- swap meet surprise

found an old Carvin XV112 amp section at swap meet, talked the gut down from 150 to 90. the power supplies and tubes are worth that. got it home, plugged it in stood back and it didn't catch fire. plugged in the strat and gave it a Whorl-clean sound pretty good and it is definitely 100 watts couldn't take it past 5 for fear of permanent hearing loss. The distortion channel is very good and the boost push pull pot does a turbo punch. a little contact cleaner and the EQ works just as it should. No reveb, will have to cough up another $20 and by a tank it has the RCA connectors just a sitting there.

after playing with it for a couple of hours was pretty impressed with this swap meet amp so googled a bit and found some info. Seems like one of those unknown heros in the amp world or just my Fender prejudice blinding me to other good stuff available. instead of bisecting my beloved twin think I will see what I can makevif this thing.

Great score! I picked one that was the complete combo about ten years ago and love it.

Yeah, got one myself a while back, about $60 out the door from a Pawnshop. No EV,but it had an Eminence Legend that's fine.
It was crapping all over itself in the store(didn't catch fire),but I figured it'd be OK after a once-over.Gor it down to 2 tubes(60 watts),worked fine for a while, esp w/a Rocktron Chameleon in front of it.Didn't have pedals then, but I'm sure it would take them fine.
It's on the blink again, but the spkr, chassis & mileage I got out of it was worthwhile.

"Should" get it looked at again, but ain't got teh funds.Better to have it than not, tho,I guess...

Nice grab,tho,they're pretty underrated IMO.
