NAD - Traynor YCS-50 head

I bought one new in 2009 and sold it in 2013 when I ran into financial difficulties. I've missed it ever since.

So, when I saw this come up for less than 1/2 the cost of the NEW price, I had to grab it.

I love how it sounds, how it feels, scalability from 50 watts to 15 watts, the versatility, the fact it takes pedals like a pornstar takes.... you get the point.

I feel like I've just bought back a piece of my soul.

New set of Mesa Boogie EL34's and 12AX7's, biased and my Traynor is a happy camper.

I'd noticed there was an intermittent crackle while the amp was in standby and that it would fart out when I turned up the EQ, Gain and channel volume up full.

New gear is cool, but especially when you replace something you sorely miss. Happy for you!!

Every time I power it up, it sounds better than before.

Now if I can just get the speakers to my Marshall 1936 2x12 to catch up with the Speakers in the Marshall JCM900 1936 2x12. I'm guessing I might have to just disconnect the older cab and run it in 8 ohms with the newer 1936 for about 20 years to catch up. Lol

Great amp. Still like the YCV50 best of all Traynors, but the YCS flies under the radar too often. It's a great sounding amp. It doesn't strike you with spectacular character or anything particularly memorable, but what it offers is just a really great range of cleans and overdrives. I had one when they first came out but wanted to go back to the YCV50B so I sold it. I'd be happy having either one today though. Congratulations. I'd love to hear some good audio.
