Traded my Mesa 5:50 today for this Traynor YCV50 Blue and Wine red Traynor 1x12 with casters and V30...

I decided to trade after playing through my buddies YCV80 2x12 and loving the cleans. This amp is the same but powered by EL-34s. The cleans great. Thick and full even on the high strings...No twang!! which I like alot. The spring reverb on this is to die for. With it up quite a bit I get this nice ambient verb clean that sounds killer. The stock V30 was replaced with an eminence legend which bummed me out at first but it seems to sound pretty good plus I have that 1x12 wine red cab with a v30 if I decide to switch them around. I have not attached the cab yet as the extension jack is kind of a b**** to get at (anyone know where it is exactly I can't see anything without taking the back panel off)

The cleans alone make this amp worth it as I liked my Mesa ALOT but the cleans were starting to get on my nerves. They were too thin and twangy which some may love but I did not and it seems that most Mesas I have owned have had those stiff twangy cleans.

I have not cranked out my pedals with this amp yet but will report back when I do.

Very excited about this amp. I know they are seen as the Traynor version of the Hot Rod Deluxes/Devilles but IMO I think they are bit better.. Maybe not as loud as the Fenders though.

Can't wait to crank this combo and cab next band rehearsal!!!:naughty:

Just tried it with pedals... KILLER

The killer cleans on this amp make for a great pedal platform. Even cranked the cleans remain full and distortion/fuzz pedals are fat sounding.

Is the AD30 yours too?

I seriously hope you got some cash in the deal as well. Used Traynor YCV50's are typically only worth $400-$450 on the used market. I've even seen them for less. Not that they're not great amps, but they're like the G&L of the amp world in terms of depreciation.

No cash :( I got the cab which is worth like maybe 200 used ? so I for sure lost out a couple hundred on this deal but to be honest I could not wait to get rid of the Mesa.. the cleans were killing me. I took my amp into the shop where I bought it to see if they would buy it off me for a decent amount but they were going to screw me on it.

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!! :headbang:

If you ever decide to get rid of that cab...let me know!

Damn, thats a nice array of amps.

Thanks!

I have a bit of a thing for amps :lmao:

Used to be guitars and I had like 12 at once but now I have just 2 guitars and several amps. It's good having some variety

Sometimes trading is about what the trader views as value to them, and their use/needs at that time. Not just monetary equality.

Re: NAD Traynor YCV50 Blue + Traynor wine red 1x12 V30 cab

Congrats on the new amp! The YCV50 was my first tube amp. Lots of others have come and gone, but every time I think of trading the Blue, I think better of it. The cleans are fantastically warm, and with some tube swapping I found the preamp distortion I was looking for (I don't play loud enough to cook the power tubes). Never had an amp that played better with pedals, too. :)
