OK, I suppose you're wondering why I asked all of you here. Please do not hold your applause until the end. Continue clapping furiously as you read this silently to yourself or aloud to your loved ones.

I've never been much of a clean type guy (although I didn't write it off completely like say, 80sMetal), but recently I played a used Roland JC-50 in a shop (mainly to test an ElectroHarmonix pedal, which I ended up turning off after about a minute) that just blew me away with its tone and effects. It was extremely overpriced and he wouldn't come down. I almost picked one up locally from CL shortly after that - it was a deal, but a not screaming deal. I let that one go. I think that was a 60, which is a lot larger - I didn't want to go bigger/louder!

Enter a week or two ago I saw one on CL for 2 bones which is pretty unreal. Got in touch, kinda set up a deal, then started backing out due to timing and since I hadn't yet sold anything. Not to mention I'd have to drive an hour one way with my kids in tow. Some time passes, and he circles back and says he'll drop it off at my doorstep! Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I couldn't resist:

Sounds cool & in nice condish. Pots could use a cleaning. I freaked out a bit at first because of mega noise, then I remembered the on/off switch doubles as a ground loop switch. Once in the down position, it sounded great.

So that's it. I'm Mr. Clean now. Please continue your applause as I exit the stage.

Nice! Probably the best SS amp ever made. How does the 50 compare to the 60 or 120?

hmmm, apart from volume & size, the 60 does have a middle eq knob. with the added speaker, the 120 can do a bit more in the stereo effects department (and it has 2-channels), although both the 50 and 60 can do an effects out to acheive stereoby use of a second amp. luckily I feel in love with the 50 first so I wasn't really looking for the other ones (or the one with the 2 x 10s - I'm not much of a 10s dude).

Sweet! I'd love to play through a JC-50, 60, or 120 sometime just to see how it sounds.

Re: NAD: you will now address me as...

Congratulations!! I've always been a fan of those.

I'd like to hear what that baby sounds like goosed with a Twin Tube Classic. Nice Score Mr. Clean! (* stands and ovates). Hows the chorus sound?

i had a jc -60 for a while. Nice reverb and chorus. Speaker died so i installed a celestion and it sounded even better. It did sound kinda hard on my ears tho and i found it quite fatiguing to play for extended periods of time. Its a pretty cool sound to engage the distortion but have the distortion level on "0" to warm it up a bit for a more vintagey sound and knock the transient spike out of the attack.
Best thing about the amp was finding this written on the side of the reverb tank tho:

The chorus sounds like baby's breath laced with THC Gerald! Actually, I like the vibrato thingy just as well - I jump back and forth between the two.

A few oddities I've noticed are: high input a bit scratchy/touchy, might have to replace that someday; it gets a weird super-bassy thing going on with certain settings (typically if the distortion is up a bit) where it rattles the walls and whatever loose stuff is in the room - easily fixed by turning the distortion off and turning the bass down, but interesting nonetheless. Also the volume seems to really kick in loud at like 1 - I'm wondering if someone put in a non-linear pot at some point. Not sure if they are supposed to be that roaring!
