Picked up the Vypyr 60 with the Sanpera II for 300 today! Very nice amp. Also my Art300 gets some nickel Blackouts!

Re: NAD ! !

It's called the Sanpera II. It's Peaveys pedal for these amps.

Really like the 6505 model. I'll play with the K when I get home!

Re: NAD ! !

I had a Vypyr 75 and Sanpera I when they first came out. Great tone and many good effects. I can only imagine that the 60, being a tube power amp sounds at least as good, or better. I bought mine with the main purpose of using it live. That didn't work out well. Switching patches on-the-fly was difficult with the Sanpera due to the closeness of the buttons and I would trigger unwanted changes (trying to sing lead and changing from rhythm to lead guitar in a 3 pc. band where breaks in continuity weren't acceptable). Also, on the earlier models, sometimes during a switch, it would lock up, much like an old windows operating system. That required shutting down and re-powering to clear.

It had to go...just too cumbersome and problematic for mys use on gigs. Hope the newer versions' software has corrected the lock-ups, but still, I know I'd struggle big time with the Sanpera I let alone the II. But as I stated at the beginning, some great tones to be had. Wish you the best with it.

Re: NAD ! !

This is my second time owning this particular model. It's just a great, great practice and start out gig amp. It looks so cheesy but some guys have made them look like boutique heads! Just can't beat the bang for your buck.

Want to decrease the cheesy effect? De-fang it. That piece of plastic with the fangs is easily removed with a couple screws and insert a piece of scrap guitar or mic cord from the back to fill in the small gap. I thought it improved the looks considerably, and it's easily reversible.

I am a CNC Machinist and I'm looking around the shop getting some really cool ideas =D

Here's my Vypyr 30 combo that I modded:

(Still need to fill that gap. :D )

Re: NAD ! !

Thanks!

That head looks really neat. Do you use the Peavey speakers in a cab or did you find something else?

Actually found a guy on the Peavey forum that modified the mainboard to add an effects loop and I go out of that into the computer. Sold the speaker (and Sanpera pedal that came with it) for what I paid for everything, so the amp was basically free. :D

Re: NAD ! !

Saw that mod as well. The idea sounds great, but I'm unsure how other speakers would sound given its a modeler. I have yet to venture down the road of playing through my computer with software. I rather like the simplicity of most amps, but to shape the exact tone in your head to a recording has to be remarkable! I've been seeing your threads about flipping guitars and such. I do the same. All my gear is 0 out of pocket over the past year or so. That aspect is very fun as well!
