when i went 4x12 cab shopping i had no real budget at the time and read lots of reviews and talked to a few people and it came down to two names....splawn and bogner and i went with the splawn and will never look back. just a killer quality cab that can sound however you want it with either your own speaker choice or Scott Splawns favorite eminence setup which is in the ballpark of the bogner uber cab but all US made (both the cab and speakers.) it's the only brand i would choose if i needed another cab....i may get a 2x12 splawn down the road actually.

Splawn or Bogner, like Mike said. I've been to Scott's shop several times, and once when Scott was modding my Marshall cab, one of his guys took the time to show me thru the shop where they build stuff. The quality of wood and the care they take in building cabs and heads would blow you away. The attention to detail is amazing, and the birch plywood they use is damn near stain grade. The guy who gave me the tour said there are some batches of birch ply they are almost sad to cover with tolex. Awsome, awsome stuff.
Although, I am curious about the new cab's Marshall has on their website to accompany the new VM tube heads.

Between Bogner and Splawn whichone is more British sounding, if there is such a thing for cabs as much as there is for amps.

There are a few gems out there: Bogner, Splawn, Orange and Hiwatt all come to mind.

If you're not that concerned about having a booteek name on it, the best cab I ever heard was larger than a Marshall in every way, made from baltic berch multiplex and a MDF baffle. The bottom half had two Vintage 30's and was closed at the back. The top half was loaded with two pre Rola greenbacks and was partially open at the back.
Not just metal, this thing handled every style, amp and guitar we threw at it with enormous brilliancy.
I've long lost contact with the constructor, but you could ask any cabbuilder you can find to make you something similar.
All 4x12" cabs are basically the same. But you can create a lot of difference with dimensions, wood types, and cosntruction.
