Re: Name that amp...

i'd say the blues deluxe or drri would be your best bet

IMO the cleans are a little better on the DRRI, but the blues deluxe will take pedals better

if you want it for pedals - go blues deluxe

if you wanna crank it - go drri

Re: Name that amp...

On the KT66/Fender question, ask Puckboy, Gr8Scott and Armotron. They'd be in a better, more objective position to comment. I think it bridges the gap quite nicely.

Re: Name that amp...

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's Fender clean or Marshall clean....it's a nice in between clean.

It's not pristine, but I like a little grit in my clean anyway. With the KT66s, it stays clean longer & is very full & round.

Super clean:bigok:

Re: Name that amp...

Depends on the speakers you run the Edana through. I have one cab that is marshall all the way no matter what head you plug it into. I have another that wouldn't do marshall if you begged it to. My ScottF-approved cab is still being made. I'm calling Mojotone Monday to make sure it's done this week. I'll pick it up next Monday hopefully.

Through the non-marshall (tubeworks) cab, the Edana is super shimmery and will compete head to head with any fender's cleans. It has great bass and will flat out shake your fillings out if you're not careful. It's cleans are angelic and warm to boot. Through the marshall cab, it's just snarky marshall sound. It's a marshall design, so I like having both. Can't wait until the ScottF approved cab is done. That should sound very gorgeous. Should be kind of middle of the road between the two extremes.

does the edana have a 1/2 power switch on it? i'm thinking one of those might look good in lacqured tweed with a matching 2x12 cab?!

Re: Name that amp...

Koch Studiotone or Twintone II. The Twintone can run 25w and 50w, the Studiotone is a 20 watter. I own the The Twintone... it can do everything I throw at it and more. It's a little pricey, though, 1500-2000$ new I think.

Re: Name that amp...

See if you can find a traynor ycv amp to try out . . . they have a little red amp that's 40 watts that (I feel) smokes the hot rod and blues deluxe. Same cleans, but a nicer drive channel.
