Hey there everyone ,
Ive recently replaced stock v7 v8 s in my Ibanez rg 7420 ( tremol no installed ) with Nazgul sentinent set , since then im experiencing kinda hoof sound after strumming lower strings ( specially on 7th str palm mutes ) whichs annoying and makes the guitar too muddy and unclear on higher speed riffs. Im using ernie ball slinky 8 string 2625 (bypass 8th string )
my signal chain works like this :
tube Preamp > Icon cube4 nano soundcard thru Laptop >Amplitube and other VST standalones such as TH 2 etc... > into Presonus eris 5 monitor speakers.
This same set up sounds great and articulate with my other 7 string ( jackson Slat7 [ Emg707s ] )
I also removed tube preamp to check if thats the problems but still didnt change a thing.
Is it the basswood in my ibanez whichs causing this ?
any thoughts ? Eq setting that can help ?
Hmm, is there a way you can post a soundclip? One thing I thought was that the pickups might be too close to the strings, or the strings were ringing behind the nut. Does this happen through a normal amp and not software?
yeah, same thing happens through a peavey 6505+ , and im using a fret wrap behind the nuts .about pickup height , how much should it be ?
hmm , ill put a soundclip asap , probably today, and also a pic of pickup height .
Thanks for youre respond :x
i don't know much about the tremol-no but if it doesn't block downward move (pitch down) the you're resting your hand with too much strenght, anyway, that bridge pickup seems way up, as a trick for a mid pickup height, put a pair of dimes one in top of another on the lower string and press it in the last fret, lower the pickup until the dimes fit right (not tight nor loose) in between, one dime for the higher strings, this measure is for both neck and bridge pickups, once you're done you can move the pickups either higher or lower to your liking
Tremel-No does not block forward motion, as far as I know. I know there's a model that blocks all trem action - doubles as a trem spring when not locked, blocks it completely when engaged.
It could be that the bass response is so much higher on the Nazgul that it's farting out, but the soundlcip doesn't seem to have any distortion on it, other than what appears to be preamp/input overload.
lol, didn't notice where he's from, okay, the thicknes of a dime is 1.35mm so the nearest is a 100 rial coin wich is 1.36mm thick (at least acording to wikipedia)
That, to me, sounds like the low strings are overdriving the preamp. Lower the bass side of the pickup and see if that helps. From the pics, you could stand to lower both sides, anyway.
thanks everyone for great support , problem solved by reducing pickup height , anyway im sellin the guitar ( not the pickups ) , gonna get a schecter banshee elite 7 in 20 days .
thanks again and sorry for delay
