This little beauty followed me home from my local shop on Saturday. Haven't been able to put it down. I'm primarily a lead guitar player, but I do dig playing bass... so much so that I bought 5 of them last year. But my buddy (who runs the shop) handed me this sweetie and it feels right at home for my small, guitar-centric hands. Ibanez SRC6 crossover (tuned E to E).
Thumpy and full like a regular long-scale bass, but comfortable at 30". String spacing is much closer than a regular bass. I play bass with my fingers and a pick, depending on my mood. The spacing on this is definitely more pick-friendly. I use rest strokes exclusively when I play with fingers, and there's not enough space between strings for that on this bass. But I certainly am enjoying the supreme shredability on this thing! I can use my vibrato much easier on this scale than I can a long scale as well. This bass is also very light and well-balanced.
Obligatory pic.... new bass is on the left, shown next to a regular Ibanez SR300 4-string for comparison.
