2002 spector euro-4. or possibly a late '01. most likely 2002.

he's dusty and the brass needs polishing of course, and he's got some signs of wear, but that's ok. P pup is fried, so we're in the process of obtaining a new one and i can't give a full rundown of how he sounds just yet. also want to change out the preamp at some point. we weren't really in the market for anything right now, just kind of planning to pick one of these up at some point down the road, but this one presented himself at a steal on craigslist, so happy birthday to me. :D

If you are going to purchase another EMG pickup, I suggest that you make it one of the -X models.

funkfingers, what do the px have over the p or pa models?

EMG's X models have a slightly redesigned preamp to sound more natural and let through some of the sound of the guitar/bass itself. Basically trying to get more of a passive pickup character/responsiveness in an active pickup design.

hm, i dunno, i just listened to a spector with a PX on a vid a little bit ago and it was like a freaking ice pick. i didn't know it was possible for a bass to sound so bright. :dunno:

plus it seems the x models have come about after the EMG logo change, so my pups wouldn't match, and that would bug me. (because, you know, looks are important. i think. maybe. :lol: )

(OCD alert.)

and we already found a P for cheap too.

thanks guys. still waiting for the new-to-me pup to arrive...should be tomorrow.

we're also debating which preamp to get for it. it currently has the stock preamp in it (non-trim tone pump), and we're looking for something with a manageable output level because this one is pretty hot...hard to play without some clippage.
