NBOSD (New Bunch of Stuff Day!)

I seem to be in acquisition mode....
I went to the local casino to unwind a few days ago, and wound up playing $1/$2 blinds at the poker table. Came out $600 ahead. :cool2:

Had to use some (not much) to pay a couple of bills, but my wife said "take the balance and treat yourself...hall pass on guitar spending." WAY COOL!

Guitar and some pedals......

I've always liked the Ibanez SA's. Can't justify several hundred for a new guitar for a nice one, but found this SA (I think 160), made in Korea in 2011 per the SN on the neck. Feels nice, sounds clean, no pot scratch, switch works, and running up and down the scales revealed no fret buzz. Neck looks straight and frets are not worn. Minor scratching on clearcoat, but no dings or dents.

Picked it up for $130 CAD ($98 USD). For that price, I'm pretty happy with it. Once life turns around and I can get into a new Prestige for $8-900 plus, I'll rethink my standards. But for right now, in my situation, I'm happy.

Since the TS7 just arrived, and I'm happy with it, I stayed away from OD pedals for the time being. Same with dirt, as I just got a Dark Matter. I'm going to use some more of the money to buy the parts and do a Keely mod to my DS-1.

Other pedals awaiting delivery from eBay (I'll post pics on the Pedal board when they arrive) Both Ibanez...Weeping Demon wah and a CF7 Chorus/Flanger. Odd that I keep getting Ibanez pedals. Its not through design, merely chance. I'll post pics of my board when its full!

The left over cash is sitting and waiting. I'm debating what pickups I want to put into this SA. I've got a strat with Five-Twos and a JB Jr, so I've got the bluesy and twangy covered. My other Ibanez makes decent warmer tones with the overwound JB/Jazz combo. What to do with this HSS Ibby? Maybe EMGs or GFS actives? Or maybe a Distortion bridge and HotRails in the neck and mid? Or some HotStacks? QP? I don't know. That's why I'm waiting on it. (I'm open to ideas...I love playing 80s rock - Bon Jovi, Poison, Def Leppard and the like, and also bluesy rock like Jeff Healy, SRV, ZZ Top. Not super into thrash stuff. Classic 60s stuff like the Stones and the Who, but I think my blue Ibby covers that sound ok. Oh, what to do what to do)

Nice score on the Ibby. Those things can be sweet. Leaving the pups stock? (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) :cool2:

Those are incredible guitars for the money! I really liked the stock pickups in the one I had–sold it to an old bandmate who is still rocking it.
