What would pair well with a Duncan Distortion for modern rock/metal? I am playing a PRS Custom into a Mesa Dual Rectifier Roadster. I'm a big fan of Mark Tremonti, so I am considering his bass pickup, but I'm curious what else might work well. This is the closest to the clean tone I'd like to achieve.
I want a sound that is bright and full, but not overbearing. I like to let either chords or bass notes ring out, while simultaneously playing melodies on the high end, so I want everything I'm playing at once to be audible. I don't switch to the neck pickup often when soloing, but I don't want there to be a huge volume drop if I choose to do so.
59's and Jazz's both seem like popular choices. I've played each of them with ENTIRELY different gear and a different guitar. I did find the '59 to be too overbearing on the bass end, and the Jazz to be too thin, almost single-coil like. But perhaps either of them would fit my new setup better.
I'm also extremely curious to try putting a 59/Custom hybrid in the neck. I'm not sure what to expect though.
