:feedback: I work on a few of my friends guitars and I have not seen it yet but would like to find out what you all think it could be before hand.
It is a Ibanez guitar with Prs Hfs neck and Duncan Dist bridge one Volume and one tone standard three way switch. Neck pickup stopped working and then the Duncan Dist became to sound better? this is coming from the player! He has no clue about guitars but pretty good player. I will not get the guitar in question tonight after work and I thought that I might as well start with the EXPERTS!!!!:smokin:

Re: Neck Pickup stopped working!!

You think it could be the three way? I thought that might be it as well. He said that the Bridge SH-6 actually started to sound better?? that seems weird. The only thing I could figure is that its not sharing the pot value so its signal is stronger?

Re: Neck Pickup stopped working!!

I'm guessing its one of those Cortek eight-contacts-in-line PCB selector switches. Overenthusiastic soldering can overheat the terminals and distort things on the PCB. If the PCB tracks and contacts no longer come together properly, the signal(s) will not pass.

Strictly speaking, unless you count the EG II series HSH model, the US-made HFS was never a neck position pickup. PRS may be using this model name on a Korean-built pickup.

Re: Neck Pickup stopped working!!

Ya its the neck vintage match to the HFS SORRY about that. At the time I could only find the vintage neck pickup at a reasonable price. Since then I have been able to pickup the Bridge HFS so since I have to take it apart I will be installing to get the match right.Ya they are Both Usa models High output but nice clear pickups.
