i would think a pearly gates neck would be a good choice but its my favorite neck bucker so i may be biased. if you want smoooooth then try a aph, the pg has a little more attack to it that i like when using distortion since it helps articulate the notes

Those were the exact two I was thinking of too... I've used the A2P in a Les Paul and loved the tone. Never tried a PG, though I've heard nothing but great things about that pickup in the neck position. The RTM is pretty hot from what I've heard, so I'm thinking maybe that extra edge the PG has might be a good match.
