Neck pickups inclination...

I was wondering if the inclination of some neck single coils could has any effect on the sound... why there are some neck pickups inclinated? It´s only an stetic thing? Is it maybe because of the lower frets (E, B and G) going more deep into the body than the higer ones (D, A and E)?

Thanks.

Re: Neck pickups inclination...

which angle do you mean?? the angle of the actual pickup rout, like on a strat bridge? Or the angle of the pickup in that rout, bass to treble?

Yes it does, but it's not as noticeable as when a bridge pup is slanted (which is what I assume you mean). Down near the bridge, small changes in position make big changes in the tone - just try this by picking closer to the bridge. As you get near the neckl, it takes much greater changes to add more fat/bright to the tone.
