Suggestions, Looking for a Pup to blend nice with a 59 in the bridge of a Les Paul. Not too bassy not to much trebble . A nice chimey tone if possible. But real blusey when cranked.
To match the '59 in the bridge, why not another '59 for the neck? I love the pearly gates in the neck (not too much treble and gives the bluesy edge without compromising tone and still retains its PAF roots), but I don't know how the Pearly Gates would combine with the 59 in the bridge... Stay safe and go with the 59.
I'm voting 59. I don't think the A2P will have the "chime" and the PG may be a bit much based on your description. But any of those are great. Just a matter of taste. I'd say try - in this order: 59, PG, A2p. Go with someone who supports the Duncan Exchange policy.
I like the 59 in a Les Paul but it can be a bit bassy but it still very nice sounding pickup, that said I just replaced the 59b in my Les Paul with a Pearly Gates Bridge and waiting for my PGn to come so I cant comment yet on the PG in the neck but I hear it works great with a Les Paul!
Based on the description you gave, I would suggest the APII. It has some bass, but not as much as the 59 IMO. It's also much clearer (the 59 is woofy).
I yanked out a set of 59's in my Heritage and installed an APII set with coil taps. I love the change in sound!
