Hey, I just wanted to post and see f you guys could help me out. I can't ever seem to find a good neck pup to match my likings. I tried a Full Shred but it blended horribly with my Distortion Bridge Pup and I just overal did not like the tone. I have a Jazz in there right now and it has too muich bass and sounds HORRIBLE on the low strings. Its alright for soloing but i am just not too into it, plus its blends very badly. I play metal and I have a distortion in my bridge right now as I already said. I am playing out of a Marshall mg100DFX amp (just letting everyone know for good measure) it just seems like I cannot find anything to partner up with my Guitar well. I think I heard people say the Alnico 2 pro sounds nice in a schecter and the Pearly Gates also sounded very nice. How would a JB work out also? Someone please help me out!

Re: Neck Pup in my Schecter..HELP!

I find the APH to be somewhat similar to the Jazz. Its reminds me of the Jazz with less bass. I heard that if you take the Alnico 5 out of the Jazz and replace it with an alnico 2, it is alot like an aph.

Well, does that mean the A2P would not work for metal. If its like the jazz, than I doubt it has a great output (I'll check in a minute) and it will get very muddy from all the distortion. The Schecter is very bassy and heavy so it doesnt take a lot...

How are you getting too much bass from a Jazz? They're very sparkly in the treble range. Have you tried lowering it?

Do you really wnat alot of output in the neck position? In my opinion the APH dosent get as muddy as most neck pickups. It has sort of a bell like chime to it. You can always lower the pickup or, wire it in parallel also. You would probally like the Bill Lawrence L-500C in my Jackson.

Well I definately dont wanna change my bridge because I love my tone (its a DD!) but the guitar has:

Mahogany body
Flamed maple top
Satin finish
Set maple neck
Rosewood fretboard
Tune-o-matic bridge
Grover tuners
Jumbo frets
Cream neck binding

I think I am gonna get a Distortion neck, a set of the same buckers surely cant sound bad, especially if i love the bridge version i already have....right?
