Neck Pup suggestions -

Hey people, I've just purchased another superstrat guitar (alder body with maple neckthrough and rosewood fretboard) and I've decided I'm going to put a Bill Lawrence 500XL in the bridge as everytime I play that pickup it sounds so **** good, i also love Nuno Bettencourts tone.

My question is whether anyone can recommend a good neck pickup that will match it well?

I was thinking about a Pearly Gates as I really love the clean, however I found it never really did too well under high gain. Any suggestions? I'm looking for an extremely nice clean but also defined under gain.

Many Thanks Again
:)

P.S i found a thread about the two pups but no conclusion

Hey, cheers for the replies, How does the jazz neck sound lcompared to the pearly gates? Do you reckon the output between the bridge and neck will be ok?

i cant really answer the first part of your question since i never owned a PG pu but it should be ok, i use an invader with a jazz on my les paul and the jaz sounds absolutely stunning for cleans and for really warm like almost like a gallon of milk solos, that's how creamy that pickup is in my opinion. Actually, better yet it probally sounds closer to a whole dairy cow rather than just one gallon of milk

Brilliant, I m gonna go for the Jazz in the neck. I ve been looking for one in black & white but I can't seem to find one. Do they make them in those colours? Also does it need to be F Spaced?

Cheers Again

If you plan to use it mailny for driven sounds, and/or you just like the neck position to have some more oomph, Jazz bridge could be your choice, mind you, the bridge model isn't really too hot in the neck either.

BTW, I think that PG is very defined under gain, not necessarily very tight on the lows, but it has almost single coily character to it's sound, definately not muddy, but if you want brighter, then Jazz should have brighter highs, and tighter and bigger bass.

It was the tightness of the lowend of the PG that I had a bit of grief with, other than that its probably my favourite clean pickup, it sounds really good in a alder bodied kramer that i ve got. :beerchug:

I second the Jazz for the neck!
