A couple weeks ago I went browsing at a few local mom n' pop music stores. Looking for a deal on a used guitar, something out of the ordinary, or maybe a modding/project guitar. I saw this strange tele-shaped guitar at one place that looked sort of cool. I liked the paint job, the fact it was dead simple with only a single humbucker, one volume and one tone, and a maple neck but I didn't actually think to stop and play it. Since then I could't get that strange guitar out of my head and I actually worked it into a dream I had last week. So this weekend I went back there to play it and eventually ended up buying it.
It's an Indy Customs T2. It's number 46 of a run of only 100 and it came with a matching, numbered 25 watt amp! The amp is nothing special but it makes for a nice set. The neck feels a lot like a MIM Fender with a modern C shape and is very smooth. I think the body is alder. Made in China, the components are acceptable but the wood and build are great. The pickup sounds pretty decent but is very microphonic. The action is currently a bit high for my tastes but that's an easy fix. The guitar is a ton of fun to play and I love the simplicity of a single 'bucker guitar. All in all a pretty decent deal for the asking price and should be a great platform for future upgrades.
And here's another pic alongside her other orange sister.
Here's a link to an eBay auction that shows the matching amp. FWIW I paid considerably less than their BIN price.
New cheap stuff rocks!
