NED: Whole new guitar

"New Electronics day"

For my birthday (31st of December) my parents took my guitar over the local shop for an overhaul. It was a nearly stock Epiphone Les Paul standard

Emerson (CTS with tight tolerance) pots
Oil in paper capacitors
Duncan 59 and JB pickups
Switch craft jack and switch

I just got it back last night, and wow. Big improvement in cleans, crunch, saturated gain..you name it. It's so versatile and great. I can find the tone in my head no matter what, and hear every note of a run evenly. Harmonics are rich, even pinch Harmonics sound great.

The JB with full tone, low volume with a tube screamer even sounds close enough to a good stratish tone.

I'm very happy with it so far!

Pics coming soon

Awesome looking guitar and pretty cool parents to do that for you too!! If it was stock before, Im sure you feel like you have a different axe! A good electronics upgrade (Duncans) will wake up a guitar.

Yea, I was going to pay for duncans and put them in myself, but my mom told me on my birthday that we should "go get that part you need (a new pot)". She then told me before I could go to the repair section of the store.

Great axe, great parents, great tech.

The tech is someone I have known from that shop since I was 8, over half my life I have known him. He was stoked to get a upgrading customer and not your usual fixing on the cheaps.

Pretty cool man, and that makes this axe all the more special.

I remember back when I only had my Strat and was determined to get her sound and play the way I wanted her instead of getting a new one (if only :9:).

That was when I first discovered this forum and been here ever since, almost 10 years now... Wow, time sure flies.

In any case, Happy New Electronics Day!!! :headbang:

Yea, i guess it does make it more special. It's a great guitar, and is resonate and playable acousticly since day one nearly 6 years ago. It was the first guitar I ever bought on my own from working for neighbors and such for a year and a half.

It's definitely the closest thing to a lifer that I own.

I actually went to strat talk forum a year or so ago for the same reason. Thought I could make my strat get the tones I wanted, but long story short I fell in love with my Les Paul over again.

Re: NED: Whole new guitar

Same, it's my second favorite color in a Les paul, First being Trans Red with creme.

Love the open coils,too!

AFA the knobs go,I'd get an Amber switch tip to match,or just Blk the whole damn thing out,inc losing the poker chip.

Nice regardless & Happy Belated!

Wait amber? If you mean the knob color is gold, and I'm not sure how that would match with a hold tip...hmm I'll have to look through.

Definitely cool looking, and I might go with black Speed knobs.

Thanks :)
