need 7 string neck pu -what is best?

I am planning to use an Invader pickup in the bridge (preferably). What if any pu is made by SD for the neck position for a 7 string guitar?

What guitar is it going in? Without knowing that i can't really help you.
i'd strongly advise you against the invader for a seven. It's way too muddy for most rigs and guitars. the exception would be a maple bodied guitar or you have a really bright and tight amp.

thanks man. It's a Carvin DC727; Alder body w/ Maple neck & maple fretboard.

The Inavader 7 might work but imo it's still too muddy for the low b. if i were you i'd go with a Custom-7. It's got balls tightness and clarity.
For the neck there aren't as many options as for the bridge, but i think the Jazz-7 should be your best bet if you want to SD exclusively.
If not have a look at the Dimarzio Air Norton which makes one of the most popular and imo best 7-string neck pups

thanks, i overlooked the Jazz 7, i was surfing M.Friend, and they did not show one of those on their website.

hey, i'll check into the custom 7 as well for the bridge, I definitely want the "growl" and the high output, as well as great harmonics....

The Custom has growl, high output and harmonics, but it's way clearer than the invader, which imo makes it a better pup for a seven

I have an Ibanez 7621. I don't really feel like a pup change right now, but if I did a Custom/Air Norton combo would probly fit the bill.

I appreciate the helpful input and feedback. I've got a few things to consider now. I am partial to the SD's, having had very good experiences with them in previous guitars.
