Need a new Acoustic I guess

My old lotus had a rising bridge, making it a time bomb, and it's very expensive to fix versus what it's worth as a Chinese guitar older than me.

Im mosty uding my electric, so I was looking around for a workhorse acoustic, nothing fancy like a Martin Custom or Taylor, but with a solid top this time and if at all possible a single cutaway.

What would yall recommend I try out next time I'm at a store? I'm probably looking for a guitar around $300.

There are some nice Luna guitars in that general price vicinity. Of course you'll have to try to find the ones that aren't really girly…

I really like my Ovation, but was closer to double that figure. They also have some lesser expensive models that would be worth checking out.

Is the problem really the bridge or does the guitar have a bowed top?

In the latter case, one solution is to tune down then add a capo part way up the neck. This would certainly suffice for home recording of simple chord shapes.

If you can manage to save towards a seriously expensive acoustic guitar, it will see you right for your lifetime.

Definitely got to try these Yamaha, they have quite a bit of local love for their cheaper models.

Not sure I want a luna to be honest. I know it's shallow, but even a plain looking one will bring the association with the girly ones. I know they make nice ukuleles, as I have played a bit on those with friends.

The APX500III is a fine guitar

Today I was impressed with the Eastman acoustics
Certainly if I needed another acoustic I would consider them

Alvarez makes a fine budget acoustic

I've had the Fender Tim Armstrong model for several years now. It's right there in your price range. It plays great and stays in tune very well. I'm very happy with the guitar, especially given the price. At this point i've sanded down the base of the saddle to bring the action lower and switched to 10 gauge extra light strings. It almost has the feel of an electric.

+1 To Eastman Guitars! Incredible tone and quality for the price!

Yamaha makes a great guitar as well. Would definitely check out used gear via Craigslist, eBay, Pawnshops, etc.

I completely forgot about Eastman.

Yamaha, Alvarez, Seagull, all great options. Make sure it is a solid wood top.

I'm now convinced the best value in an acoustic guitar is the Martin 15 series. At the used prices, they are worth 2x or more for the tone. Way over your budget but I had to throw that out there. D-15M, 000-15M, smokin sounding acoustics.

EDIT - It appears that Martin has realized how good these guitars are and have raised the price by 25% since I was looking at them!

Mostly Chordy stuff and occasionally some stuff like SRV on it. Mostly a camping/campfire guitar.

Now I do like to do silly shreds or acoustics for fun, but not a necessity.

You can find some used Ovations for that price that sound great to me–nice and loud.

Eastmans are a great buy but hard to find especially at that price point. BUT Craigslist and eBay are your friends for something like that.

May be able to find a Big Baby Taylor used for that price–a very nice guitar!

The model that I wanted to point out no longer appears in the internet catalogue. Two years ago, the list price was approximately $800 including gig bag. The brand is not massively well known, hence, you might be able to snaffle up a used example for a bargain price.

I got mine 9th clearance for $229 new

Yamaha f310 or F370 if you mainly play electric & you'll get change from $300,
If you fall in love with acoustic then you can keep the yammie as a beater & for jamming while keeping your newly bought martin/taylor at home.
I have 2 taylors & they never leave the house so I paid £60 for a s/h F370 that plays great, being laminated it goes from cold car to warm house no prob sounds OK & I don't care if I drop it, & when it has been dropped it stays in tune & apart from a scratch or 2 no real damage cause
As has been said you can't lose with yamaha
