Need a new tremolo pedal

Ok, the Ibanez trem pedal I'm currently using imparts distortion to my signal when turned on. It's time for a new trem.

What are some of the good trems out there for under say.....$150?

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

I just ordered a Voodoo Lab Tremolo pedal. It's the best I've heard. Should have it today. $119 w/free shipping from ZZounds.com.

The Boss is pretty good, and can be made much better/more versatile with mods. I think Keeley's version of it is in your price range.

+1 the stock boss pedal sounds pretty good. But in its stock form when you switch it on, the volume drops a very small amount, Though the volume drop is large enough to be noticeable.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

+another for the boss tr2 i just got one a couple weeks ago and it's pretty good. There is a volume drop and it also sucks a little bit of tone if you put it between your guitar and amp, but when I stuck it in the effects loop this problem almost vanished. It is a pain to put things in the loop but it works this way. I would like a trem pedal I could use in my chain though without the volume drop.

Supposively keeley fixed this problem and he sells his modded Boss tr2s for 150 on his site.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

I have the Marshall VibraTrem, which gives a slight compensatory volume boost when switched to the tremolo mode. I still want an Electro-Harmonix Pulsar.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

I A/B'd the Voodoo Lab with the Fulltone Supa-Trem.....to me, the Fulltone sounded better hands down, and it's the one I ended up getting. It's got a hard/soft switch as well as a speed switch that exactly doubles or halves the tremolo speed. It might be a little more than you want to spend, but maybe check eBay.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

Wow, the Voodoo Lab sounds incredible. No noise, no volume drop, true bybass. The only problem is I have to put it in the effects loop. I usually run my effects straight in.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

+1 on the Keeley.

The Line 6 has some great waveforms that go beyond the Triangle/square wave of the Boss and Voodoo Lab. THe EHX Pulsar is a great value, AND it has wave offset. (You can get it to be asymetrical on tricangle to simulate older tube tremolos and you can vary the on-off time on square wave mode to get short helicopter chop through just a momentary drop in signal.

Actually, for the price I say go with the Pulsar, it's small too.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

I haven't tried this, and it is over $200, but Adam Jones from Tool used the Gig-FX Chopper on the 10,000 Days album.

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

High end - Diaz tremodillo
Midline+ - Dunlop or Voodoo Lab
Budget but decent - Boss or Guyatone Micro

Re: Need a new tremolo pedal

The nicest tremolo that I've ever played is the Empress Tremolo . . . do a google search, it's a pretty sweet unit. I think it's about 300$ Canadian though. I've been using the Marshall Vibratrem for a few years, and it does the job without costing too much . . .
