Need a new Wah

I'm getting rid of the Dunlop Crybaby on my board and I'm looking for a new wah. Like a lot of people, I dont like that there is no indicator led and having to hope that the next note I play isn't painfully bright because I'm not sure if it switched off or not. Most of all, I'm not happy with the tone/sweep. It gets too muddy on one end and too bright on the other. I like the tone of the Budda Wah, I'm just wondering if anyone else has any input/recomendations.

I like the Fulltone Clyde wah....I think the Deluxe version has the LED on the side if memory serves me right? Pricey, but a cool wah,versatile...

Re: Need a new Wah

I use a morley bad horsie they are a more subtle pedal than the cry baby and there is no switch to engage at the toe end, its optical just step on it and its there and ready. take foot off its off ...I love it
There is a bad horsie II that has a knob for adjusting the sweep freq. also
there is also a red led that comes on when the wah is engaged, but you dont need it cause if your foot is on the pedal and you step past zero its on.
Morely is the way to go! http://www.musiciansfriend.com/home/navigation?q=morely+wah there is a mark tremonti model that has the same features but is more aggressive
worth looking into

Peace!

Check out the Vox V847. Can't say enough good about it, the tone and sweep are much, much sweeter and broader than the Dunlop wahs.

Re: Need a new Wah

I've had experiences with a ton of wahs. here's my inputs:

CURRENT WAH: Crybaby Classic. Love it. Something about crybabys that just do it for me. I think they're a little less "vocal" than some botique wahs, but they do the filter sweep thing easier. I dunno...I just dig it.

Crybaby 535Q: Really awesome wah. People knock dunlop, but they've come a LONG wah, and this wah is very versatile, and tuneable. A Poor Man's Teese RMC3.

Teese Wizard Wah: Very vocal, very strong wah sound. Stands up to high gain, hot humbuckers, and whatever you can throw at it. Will cut through anything without sounding harsh. Great for high gain playing.

Budda Wah: My friend has one. Great wah. VERY vocal. Not as "powerful" wah sounding as the teese, but the budda sounds like a vintage, voxy kinda wah that is focused on the midrange vocal qualities, without too much treble or bass.

The Fulltone Wahs and the Tesse Wahs are probably the best Wahs out. Pricey but extremely good sounding.

I have 3 Wahs. A Thomas Organ Co. Crybaby from the 60's that was modded by John Spina, A Vox 847 that was also modded by John, and a Vox Clyde McCoy. The Vox Clyde is a very good wah for the money. I bought mine used for $70 and for that money it was a steal. The Vox 847 that John modded for me is as good if not better than the Fulltone Wahs I have used. The Wah that I like the best out of the 3 is the original Crybaby. The Vox 847 is a very close 2nd., but I like the simplicity of just stepping on it an rockin' away. The Vox 847 has a dial on the side and can be tweeked to your liking if desired. I usually try to get it to sound like my old Crybaby.

If you want a no hassle kind of Wah llok at the Teese or the Fulltone, if you want a better sounding, more vocal Wah, buy a used Vox 847 and send it to Mr. Spina (Stratdeluxer97). Its definately worth it.

Re: Need a new Wah

I've got a Crybaby, a Vox 847 and a Teese RMC1. The Teese leaves the others for dead. No light, but if you don't realize your wah is on, you've gone deaf and won't be able to do a gig anyway.

Cheers.....................wahwah

Dave....as always,I appreciate the kind words about the modded wahs....Problem with me modding wahs,is that the components are pricey! Add the small amount I charge to mod a wah and the longer amount of time it takes to mod one,and it's out of reach for alot of us....I love my modded 847s(1 is modded just like an RMC1)the other is like your own 847 and then I have a modded 848 McCoy wah. This is a great wah also and already has a power supply and the dpdt true bypass switch.

I like the RMC 1 but it's a single coil wah and can get muddy with humbuckers.
