I'm starting to get pissed at the MT-2, so I need a good dist pedal, preferably with a nice built in EQ, that can handle EARLY YEARS PASSIVE PUP James Hetfield type tones. Suggest away!

I can come pretty close to that tone with a MT-2, what are your settings?
I keep moving them, trying to get something half decent, but they are at this currently:

High: 11 o'clock
Bass: Dimed
Mid: 1 o'clock
Mid Freq: Between 9 and 10 o'clock
Dist: 1 o'clock

Send your MT2 to keeley. The sound clips sound pretty cool.
Keeley's MT-2 sounds too, "nu" to me. It's being sent to Analog Mike once I have the extra money to spend.

I use the following settings and it sounds nice and fat for me:

Volume: 2 o'clock
Bass: 3 o'clock
Treble: 12 o'clock
Mids: 2-3 o'clock
Mid Freq: 8-9 o'clock
Dist: 9-10 o'clock.

Try this out. It sounds very nice through my BF Bassman head. :burnout:

Re: Need a(nother) distortion pedal

I, like a lot of people, find that the MT-2 sounds good only when followed by a graphic EQ pedal. I can't seem to get a sound I like without it.

DOD Grunge. You'll need to get a noise suppressor though. That bitch is loud.

It's pretty transparent, and you'll have to tweak it just right to get that scopped mids/early Hetfeild tone. Keep everything about half way, a little over or a little under, and use your amp's controls more to shape your sound. The reissue is cool, but try and snag an original.
