Need advive on distortion pedal

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

hmm, not exactly sure what qualifies as "nu-metal", but I have an ibanez ts9-dx for my classic overdrive sounds, but it just wasn't doing it for me....

So for my much harder palm muting chunking rhythm parts I have a rocktron metal planet which sounds awesome. the parametric eqs on it help give you a really wide variety of different tones of distortion, and you can get them brand new on ebay for 50 to 60 dollars.

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

Nu metal, as in tuned down to C# or lower?
I would GUESS that any 'metal' type distortion will work fine ... not my field of expertise.

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

You should check out a Dime distortion. That may just do the trick for ya.

If you must use a pedal get one of Stratdeluxer97's modded DS-1's. Stratdeluxer97 is one of our fellow SD forum brothers. If you want a great distortion pedal, get one of his. Or, forget a pedal and get a great amp.

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

I like my Big Muff Pi (blackbox version). Definitely it's own sound but I really like it.

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

That new Line 6 Uber Metal stompbox or whatever looks like it may be the ticket.

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

peter speaks the truth

i used to only play straight up street punk

now i'm playing blues & rockabilly too

its ridiculous, but I'm a lot better now

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

The Boss Metal Zone MT-2 is my "go to" pedal for heavy nu metal sounds. Even stock they have awsome low end, and the eq makes them very flexible (for metal). I also use a Danelectro Fabtone, when I want a more old school metal tone. But for just about every other style of music, I use some type of Tubescreamer derived pedal. (Voodoo Labs Sparkledrive, Boss SD-1, etc.)

Re: Need advive on distortion pedal

I thought the Big Muff pi would be exactly what I was after.... I bought the american reissue.... but it's all compressed mud. If I had a thin sounding guitar, then maybe it would work.

I can vouch for the jackhammer. It's got versitile pre-distortion EQ and an overdrive-distortion toggle, and more than enough gain. It also has a lot of output if you want to use it to drive your amp.
