Hi I have a strat and put texas specials in not happy with bridge pickup for what I'm playing (tuned down Sabbath, zombie etc..) looking for a new bridge and was thinking hot rails or JB jr. Got a real fullsize JB humbucker in my kramer baretta and that screams and squeal ,was looking for that sound but don't want to chop up strat. Is it possible to find that sound in that size or do I need a humbucker?
Thanks Rich

I've never been able to get that JB sound or even a PAF sound out of a single coil size Strat pickup, not even from a JB jr. You need a humbucker.

But if you already have that sound in your Kramer, you might want to just let the Strat sound like a Strat. Or try the JB jr. in it.

I use a Hotrails in a few of my Strats....It'll keep up with a full sized JB in my opinon. I own both.....

Seems like the hotter those JB jr. and Hot Rails type pickups get wound the more tone they lose. The more treble they lose.

think your right , only drag from kramer is tuning down with the floyd rose, got the mexican strat to abusive it

What about a little Screaming Demon?

I installed a JBjr. in both of my strats and cut the pickgaurd so it went in straight like the two above and not at a slant. Like Paul Gilbert. For me, they scream and I wouldn't trade em for any thing else I know of. Although I must say most of the folkes in this forum know way more than I do, I think you outta consider it. Keeping the pup straight ( bass side toward the bridge ) cleaned up any muddyness.
Also the space left over from the pickgaurd cut is not even visible as I used a red tort. pickgaurd, and spray painted the inside pup route black. I also have two JB humbuckers on three gibsons', a LP 66, an SG'61 reissue, and a cheapo no name gibson that was on sale for free if they could wash your car for you. I refinished it, smoothed the heel bout, tossed out all of the insides and burned the pick up just to see what it would look like.
With a nice fire red mahagony guitar and a JB humbucker I named it the LT.COL. after my dad (take it easy Kojok, this was before we "met" online), I'd take that thing on stage any where, any time, and it just cranks.
And no, I can't do pictures. Long story. Me Gimp.
Much Luck,
