Need Fender Strat recommendations!

Hey guys, I am looking to purchase a Fender Mexican Strat in a few months and am in need of recommendations. I have a Danelectro 56 Pro reissue guitar of which the neck feels awesome in my hands, and am looking for a mexi strat with a neck as similar as possible. I am unsure as to the exact spec of the 56 pro neck, if anyone has any info this would be a big help! Would i be right in thinking one of the classic series would be best?

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

i suggest you play a few mim strats to cop the feel of the neck. only you will know what feels good in your hands.

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

Try many MIM Strats and see which one speaks to you... they are all not equall... i have some that are quite nice and some just plain suck for tone....

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

I actully recommend the Highway 1 series. Thiner finish, american standard neck with the rolled edges, vintage trem and tex-mex pickups. One of the better sounding strats I've played stock...including some American Standards. Very affordable and fine instruments.

I'd agree, look at the Highway 1 series for a great value and an American made instrument. I have one and I think it's great, even stock.

I prefer the Classic 50s or 60s strats for an MIM instrument. Stock, they sound great, pickups aren't too bad. The 50s will probably be closer to the danelectro neck, a little bigger than the 60s neck. But for strats, you really gotta play them and see which ones you like best.

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

I don't know what shape the Dano is, but if it's anything like a V shape, a Jimmie Vaughan sig Strat is where it's at. American parts and wiring, Mexican assembly. Big savings.

(Man, do I sound like a Fender dealer or what? :D)

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

You'll need a chunky neck, a 25" scale, and a fairly flat fingerboard radius to get close to the Dano feel.

The only Strat that has those specs that I know of is an 80's HM strat.

Re: Need Fender Strat recommendations!

i have a MIM hh strat and personally it sounds just as good as a USA strat (and ive played a few). it plays just as good too. the only thing that needs changing is the pickups (and im working on that :fingersx: ) ... from what some people say tho i might have gotten "the luck of the draw" and got a VERY good one  hope that helps :)
