need free sidemen for virtual recording

ginormous

Understatmentologist
I'm putting together my first solo album as a home studio project.

I came up on analog tape, and I've transferred a lot of those skills over to my recording at home.
One thing I know I need help with is putting tracks on from various musicians, in different locations.
I'll need horn players, keyboards (acoustic and electric piano, synth and Hammond B3, clavinet), live drums and Afro-Latin percussion (congas, timbales, tambourine, bells etc).

It's a neo-soul/bluesy/rock thing, sort of Tower Of Power/EW&F meets BB King at a backyard barbecue.

I'm recording to Reason Win 7 64-bit, .wav files in high-res (at least 44.1 sample rate, at least 192kb/s).
Who can help me with this puppy? PM with email and I'll send you some more details.

I HAVE NO MONEY.
I'll credit you on the finished product, but that's the best I can do... for now.

What file formats can you import? I'm a Mac/Logic user but I can probably save files in an appropriate format for you.

The only instrument on your list that I can assist with is synth.

I'm looking for .wav files, but I can work with decent quality mp3's.

Re: need free sidemen for virtual recording

How far have you got with your project? Do any skeletal guide tracks exist?

Re: need free sidemen for virtual recording

Putting together guide tracks now. Will post soon... :fingersx:

Re: need free sidemen for virtual recording

I might be able to mix a song or two when your tracking is done, if you're interested. No charge - I need the practice.

I have Logic, plenty of nice plug-ins, and good monitors. I just finished mixing my band's acoustic EP and I will be putting up examples in the near future.

Just send me a PM when you're ready and we'll sort out the details.

Re: need free sidemen for virtual recording

I have a limited software ( Audacity ) and a Roland GR33 guitar synth module & a Godin LGXSA synthguitar . Maybe yes ? Maybe No ? :)

I cannot help, but I noticed your file format does not make any sense.

Do you mean, WAV or AIFF, 24 bit/44.1?

You do not want multiple sample rates or you will have major pitch issues.

Anything above 24/44.1 are HUGE files and the gains will not be noticed (mostly because they don't exist).

That's what I get for trying to transcribe stuff from the back of a cocktail napkin. Let me get back to you on that... duhh...

Re: need free sidemen for virtual recording

I can imagine some instrument parts being recorded as real time audio. I can imagine some parts working perfectly well as one-shot loops. I can imagine some parts being like spot effects, triggered from within Reason's sampler. Horn section stabs, for instance.

Ruh-roh...

Hit a bump. The guy that was helping me has chosen not to participate any further. The Reason sound files have been deleted.

I'm gonna have to start from scratch, and this time I'll be using Reaper (the most recent update).

Those files will indeed be wav 24-bit, 44.1k.

I've also got SampleTank 2.5 Free, and I've got some tasty VSTi keyboards.

I'm still looking for help. Anyone interested, PM me your email and I'll hit you with more details.
