need guitar tone/sound advice

I did this quick direct recording for drummer collaboration project on a recording website, and I can't figure out if I actually like the direct recorded sound out of my old line 6 head. I don't want to go direct thinking it sounds good only to realize a few weeks down the road I should really mic a cab. It seems to sound good to me, but I need some honest feedback on the sound of the guitars. Ignore the bass and lack of reverb, compression, etc. I'd redo them so they're cleaner and such, but is it that bad direct?

[update: it's a metal/punk tune, so don't open if you don't dig that style I guess]

You're going to want to mic it up if you have the ability to. It doesn't sound bad for a demo or scratch track, but it's really obvious that it was recorded direct.

That said, that bass tone is killer!

cool...that's kind of what I was hoping to hear about the 6 strings. I'm surprised you like the bass tho! No time spent at all on that. The ART tube MP really works well for bass I'm finding.

Re: need guitar tone/sound advice

pretty impressive since it was recorded direct. Normally I can't stand anything thats directly recorded. You tone is pretty good throughout the song. But it really could be improved if you mic a decent cab. thats just my opinion, a lot of people I know love recording direct from PODs or their amps for some reason, I don't know why, but yeh, its a popular way of doing it I suppose.
