Need help....90's Samick info

BOONIERAT

New member
Lost out on an Ibanez RG370DX is was looking at, and saw this Samick hanging there on the wall. It's supposed to be early 90's and and no model number. Details are as follows:

Body: 2 piece wood of unknown type. Did have some good grain though and had some weight to it.
The body shape was a soloist shape. No pick guard, back loaded also like a soloist.

Color: See through blood red. (thats how I knew about the body being 2 pieces.

Neck: Long scale (like an Ibanez RG 370), maple with a rosewood finger board and binding. The machinehead was 6 in line and looked like a modified Ibanez RG and had a locking bridge.

Bridge: Licenced Floyd. It was a string through, of which I have never seen before.

Pickups: Active HS. No idea what brand. Had two switches. The main one was a standard three way blade type. Another one that seemed to alter the tone of the pickups.

All hardware was gold.

Played it and no string buzz or dead frets. All electronics worked and seemed to be a solid guitar.

Price: 119.00 with case

Did the google search and saw plenty of Samicks, but not this one. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

So looking for some input: get it or run away fast.

Thanks all

Re: Need help....90's Samick info

Sounds like a keeper to me.:bigok: It maybe a Artist series? That's what they called most of the pre-Greg Bennett stuff. I have a Samick SAN-450,Which is a 335 knockoff. Don't let the name fool you. Samick had some real gems in their line. If your in the market for a guitar like you discribed...Jump all over the Samick. Major bang for the buck IMO. It's hard to find info about older Samick stuff,Cuz' the web site has ONLY Bennett stuff on it.

Thanks kmcguitars:usa2:
I went back and looked at it and played it. Couldn't pass it up.
Plays beautiful with no string buzz on any fret. Was playing through a Line 6 so it went from clean to insane and sounded good on all setting. The neck profile was more like a Gibson than a Jackson or Ibanez.
The only guitar I could find on the internet looked like it was this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Samick-Valley-a...mZ330101236489QQcategoryZ113482QQcmdZViewItem

Only difference is the one I got is in transparent cherry red.

Once I get it home (still have a few days left before it clears Interpol or whoever else Pawn Shops go through to insure its not stolen), I have an old EMG 81 I could stick into the bridge inplace of the Samick active.

Thanks again
