need help identifying bass

I just recently got this bass from a friend, it has a jackson logo on the headstock but it's not listed on the jackson site. I'm starting to suspect that its a fake....nonetheless it was extremely cheap(120$) and it came with a guitar stand, strap, tuner, and amp.
Took these photos with my webcam....so sorry about the blurry images.

I'm pretty sure I've seen that model before.

Any serial numbers on the back on the headstock or neckplate?

Well, it's really pretty blurry, but I'm not thinking it's a real Jackson. The headstock looks weird and the logo looks misplaced. I'm not sure what you've got, but it's not really that important. Does it play well? If so, then you've got a great learning piece.

Re: need help identifying bass

Most likely is a Jackson, just not an expensive one. Jackson has tried to win bassists over with various models over the years and yet no one really takes to them. They've produced many models which are no longer offered. I think since most bassists ignore Jackson, they tend to make low-dollar basses. The Jackson/Charvel basses were big in the 80's/early 90's with metal bands (Pantera, Megadeth), but not much since then, in my opinion.

Found one of those Charvel basses a few years back, soloist shape, neck-through, under $500. Had no idea what it was, so I didn't buy it. Still kicking myself for that one.
