Need help middle p/u

Hi, I have a Godin Solidac, which is a HSH guitar. I recently switched out the pickups to a JB in the bridge, Pearly Gates in the neck, and a Fralin blues special in the middle. I love the JB, the Pearly is OK, although I'm thinking of switching to a 4 conductor 59, but I cannot stand the Fralin. Thin, tinny, uggghhhh!!! Makes the in between stratty sounds almost unusable. So, please recommend something from Duncan to put in the middle. I need something that is bright but punchy, and can match up well with the humuckers. Oh yeah, I play mostly classic rock stuff through an 18 watt Reinhardt (Marshall clone essentially, AMAZING amp!)Thanks so much in advance!

Um, try reversing your leads on the Fralin before you go out and spend money on another pickup. Something just doesn't sound right. I've never heard a Fralin being thin and tinny. It sounds to me like your Fralin is out of phase w/ your Duncans.

Now if I'm way wrong. I'd suggest either a 5/2 or Twangbanger if you're wanting to stick w/ a true single coil. If you're wanting a single sized hum I think Hot or Cool rail would do well in the middle. Just remember that if you're set up to auto tap your buckers in the notch position, you won't have a noise canceling effect unless you find a way to tap the mini hum as well. Most people usually use a mini toggle for this.

Now that I think about it. That could be a cool setup. Having a mini hum in the mid wired up to a 3 way on/off/on toggle. One way you could have your middle pup tapped for the notch positions and the other you could have a neck on at any time!
