need help please!!!!

I finally have my Ibby dialed in, but i cannot decide what to do with my Squier and would love some suggestions. What i have is a rear route hh strat in mahogany with a thin body (think affinity). it came with chrome covered hb-102 set (jb/jazz). Played them for a few years decided to try swapping them out to something better. Not knowing what the neck pup was, I ended up with an american jazz neck and a screamin demon bridge both on triple shots. Now the problem, they are very dark. The demon is warm and thick like a neck pup and the neck is almost unusable. It is still stock pots but they are alpha brand 500k, so not total crap. I was thinking hum size p-90s, which would address my other issue which is a funkiness to the attack in full bucker that i don't like. Would p-90 type pups be brighter? I do love the guitar and don't want to give up on it. The best tones i've gotten out of it was with the current buckers split. Some of my favorite players are SRV, Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer, Slash, Brad Paisley. Not looking to get near anyone else's tone but that's what I am into. Thanks in advance everyone! Here is a stock photo taken from the web.strat.jpg

I have the same S'queer in chocolate. I put an Sh6 in the neck w/ an Invader B. Metal monster.

I've checked the wiring several times, it's all good. Do you find it to be dark with the higher output pups?

Re: need help please!!!!

Is the guitar made In Korea, China or Indonesia? (The headstock decal looks like the Squier Standard design with a tiny "spaghetti" script Fender logo immediately beneath.)

If the guitar is made in Indonesia, the body may actually be Agathis rather than any member of the Mahogany family. Agathis does tend to have a dark natural acoustic tonality. My Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom II is made from the same wood AND features P90 pickups. Again, the basic sound is dark. The Duncan Designed single coil P90s have some bite but the guitar has no twang. (THINK: Rolling Stones Midnight Rambler swampiness.)

If I had to make just one change to improve the zing of your Squier, it would be to upgrade the bridge. The sustain block and saddles might be enough.
