Yeah, a shrink is prolly in order, but right now Im reinstalling a EMG zakk wylde set into my Burny.. I had gutted the whole thing and wired up 500k pots and Bare Knuckle rebel yell set. I used to be able to do a full rewire in about 2 hours or less, but Im on my third day. When disassembling, I tried to keep most of it together so I could easily see how it went, but in order to get the harnesses with the clips that go on the pickups and all, I had to separate everything to get the wires thru the chambers and all. Ive got most of it back together, BUT>> The wires coming off of the selector switch both have two contacts.. Most all diagrams Ive found only show one contact point where they go to the pots. So... where does the other contact go? Also, the middle line that per diagrams appears as tho it should go to the jack. stupid me already put the jack in once I connected the red harness lines to a single line coming off the jack and I dont recall seeing a place where the jack had previous solder. Again, Ill pull the jack and check, but again, they have two contact points on that wire as well. Ive never wired in emgs before, so do they need both contact points?

I assume the wire coming off the top post of the 3 way switch is what allows it to pick up both pups in the middle position?
Oh, and lastly... The clips that go on the pins on the pickups... Does it matter which way they go on? On way, all I see is black, flip em over and I see the gold contact points.

Im sorry and really embarrassed to have to ask all this. For so many years I was flipping guitars like a madman, and of course, swapping pups and rewiring taps and everything so regularly, I had it down to being able to practically do it blindfolded. But, Its been awhile and the emgs are a different animal..
I have to get it done quick as my ebay auction is ending soon and my wife REALLY wants her dining room table back..
Thanks

I looked again, but most of the EMG diagrams Im finding on line do not have 2 vol/2 tone configs, or have odd wiring with quick connect doo dads and what not..

looks like the wiring going from the switch point to the jack is non applicable as there are connections from the pickup connections to the jack.?? But where does the middle (jack connection) go? ugh, Ive never been so confused with wiring...

Thanks.. I hope so. Ive got the pots/caps wired up and I think the jack.. I just need help getting the toggle wired into the system. Off the toggle, I have three wires, each with two connection points... dunno where they go.. Im used to one connection per, AND, used to the one coming off of the top point of the toggle going to the input jack with one connection. Im thrown of by the two connections AND the fact the wiring coming off the pickup connectors going to the jack. AND, double checking I have the connectors on right..

Is the Emg wiring like the blackouts?? I found a good diagram for blackouts. But, again, there is only one connection from each of the switch wires to the pots and not two like this one is set up. would it be good, ok or otherwise to run one wire to the Pot lug, and the other to the back of the pot to ground it? or just eliminate the second connector and run the wire directly to the pot? (looks like the second connectors on each wire were added in. I just dont recall ever seeing two connections coming off these lines, but again, Im not familiar with active pups.. AND again, as I said, the Blackout diagrams only show one connection from the wires and not dual..

Not super familiar with active pups either I think you'd be ok adding that second wire as just a ground, but then you run into all sorts of ground loop buzzy nonsense I wouldn't know enough about active pups to help........bump cause I'm feeling sorry for you :)

I'd be glad to help out if you could post some pics of the different components that you have questions about.

You asked if matters how the quick connect cable gets connected to the pickup. Yes it does. Locate the arrow symbol that is only on one side of the quick connect, and make sure that arrow is facing out/towards you when you connect it to the pickup. See pic and the red arrow i added pointing at the arrow symbol on the quick connect piece.

Thank you! This helps with one issue. BTW, I put together your user name and the regal beagle thing.. LOL!! Loved that show!

As far as the photos, Ill try, but Im not real saavy and having a bad time with pics since photobucket went greed.. AND, my comp is bout outta memory. It shut down from 8 last night till just now.. I had a heckuva time getting pics up to list a couple guitars on ebay.. Ima have to clear stuff out so I can list more...

Basically.... I have the three wires coming off off the three way switch,. Normally, one wire off the singular front post, would go to the jack.. One wire to the neck vol pot and one to the bridge vol pot.. HOWEVER.... Each of those wires has another connection spliced in. So, instead of one connection for each wire, I have two.. So, trying to figure out if this is ness, and if so, where does the second connection go? AND... The line that would normally go to the jack.. Does that still go to the jack with the emg set up? Since the emgs have the lines (red) coming off the pickups that go to one and then to the jack.. Again, sorry.. just emg challenged.. And, Seems the wiring is a bit diff than the blackout setup.. Which I assume would be similar being active...

Haha, thanks about my user name.

See if the attached pic helps. I believe the wire with two leads that you mentioned, is supposed to go from one of the pickups to the volume pot for that pickup, not from the toggle switch like you are trying to do. Note also that the volume pots and toggle switch do not connect directly. There is a bus piece that is an intermediary.

for some reason i could not find on the internet, a quick connect based diagram for 2 volumes and 2 tone pots. Maybe in the case of 2 vol and 2 tone, the bus is not an intermediary, but still, the 2 lead wire would go from each pickup to the vol control, not from the volume control to the toggle switch. I believe the 2nd wire in that 2 wire bundle, is what is grounding the pickup to the volume pot (when those 2 are connected, and then grounding the volume ctl to the tone control when those 2 are connected together. So a 2 wire bundle should not be used to connect from the hot leads of the toggle switch.

Thanks for the replies guys.. Yeah, I found the schecter one, but I couldnt for the life of me find an 2 vol/2 tone one . And, the Schecter one doesnt have the quick connects on the pickups. (Which, I pulled a pickup and found no arrows or markings on the connectors to show if I had it right. UGH On the EMG site, the ZW set link goes to an error message. I just took a stab at it and it is working, so, I guess I got it right.. Whew.. What a nightmare.. Even crazier that I couldnt find a blinking diagram.. The only things close with the 2/2 set was with all the quick connect stuff.
